For World Book Day the school took part in a number of activities. All the students from the older classes read with those from the younger classes during ‘DEAR time’ (Drop Everything And Read).
The Junior and Senior infants wrote some lovely stories with the boys and girls in 5th and 6th class.
We also had a competition where the children had to read in an unusual place and send in pictures to the school. The children were very imaginative about this and we had some pictures of children reading in boats, some reading to their cows, others reading on their cosy beds or little nooks in their rooms, some lying on the snow and others on a dentist chair. We really enjoyed it and it was great to have some fun with reading.
