About Our School
Passage East NS is a four teacher school situated on the outskirts of a small fishing village in east County Waterford. It is in a natural catchment zone, bordered by Waterford Harbour to the East and open countryside/farmland to the North, West and South.
Passage East NS enjoys a good reputation in the community. The first National School was established in the village in 1833. The present building was erected in 1969 .
The school has 4 classrooms and two learning support/resource rooms. It also has a staff room and office. We are also lucky to have access to a local community hall for school concerts and other activities. We are very fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful and spacious grounds overlooking the sea.Over the past number of years a school garden has been established.
Activities and Projects
As part of our P.E. curriculum the school provides Hurling, Camogie Gaelic Football and yoga lessons. As part of our music curriculum the pupils take part in percussion/drumming and ukulele lessons. The school has been represented in the annual Peace Proms events over the past number of years. Pupils have also participated in the Junior Achievement Programme. We currently hold two Green Schools Flags. Pupils regularly take part in a range of art/essay/poetry competitions throughout the year.
Board of Management and Parents’ Association
The school is managed by an eight person Board of Management. There is also a very hardworking and active Parents’ Association who provide much needed backup for any extra curricular activities and resources.
